Wichita Aero Club July Luncheon will feature APOA President Craig Fuller, Special WAC Membership Incentives Offered for AOPA Members
June 23, 2011 5:12am
Wichita, Kan. (June 23, 2011) – The Wichita Aero Club’s July luncheon, scheduled for noon on Tuesday, the 12th at the Airport Hilton, features Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) President Craig Fuller as the speaker. It will be Mr. Fuller’s second visit to the Wichita Aero Club. He made his first official public appearance as AOPA President at the January, 2009 meeting of the Club. His debut attracted a record crowd of 235 attendees for the luncheon-a mark that lasted until the Club’s ON-AIR SUMMIT Panel of Aviation Company CEO’s that December drew 325 people and some additional on-line viewers.
“We expect another large crowd for Craig’s visit this year,” WAC Executive Director Dave Franson said, adding that “we’re offering special incentives for AOPA members who are not yet members of the Wichita Aero Club and join the WAC between July 1 and the end of the month. Instead of the standard $100 annual membership fee, they can join for $75. We’ll also ‘throw in’ attendance at the July 12 luncheon if they sign up in time…a $40 value which can become even more valuable with each additional luncheon they attend because they’ll get the 25% discount each time. By saving $10 on 6 more luncheons they’ll effectively recover the entire cost of their 2011 membership in the WAC! We’re also offering a discount for all joint AOPA/WAC members who bring guests to WAC luncheons. If the WAC member is also an AOPA member, his first guest at the July luncheon is admitted at the member price of $30. If the guest is an AOPA member (but not a WAC) member, he/she will be admitted at the member rate and will be given the 25% discount on a WAC membership if it’s purchased at that luncheon.”
Craig Fuller will share his views as a passionate pilot and aircraft owner, as well as a Washington insider and the leader of AOPA, whose membership represents more than two-thirds of all certificated pilots in the United States. His career has spanned senior public affairs positions in business, association leadership and executive positions in the federal government, including eight years of service in the White House from 1981 to 1989.
The jobs have changed over the years, but the one constant in his life has been aviation. The California native earned his private pilot certificate in a Cessna 150 at the age of 17 and later earned an instrument rating at Van Nuys Airport flying his new 1980 Cessna 172RG Cutlass.
A longtime aircraft owner with instrument and multiengine ratings, Fuller and his wife, Karen, now fly their 2003 Beechcraft Bonanza A36 more than 200 hours a year on personal and business trips.
Cost of monthly luncheons is $30.00 for members, $40.00 for non-members. Vegetarian lunches are available upon request. Credit card payment is available by phone and on the WAC web site. Walk-up attendees are welcome. Reservations may be made online at www.wichitaaeroclub.org or by calling 316.641.5962.
